Bolsover Food Festival Hailed a ‘Hidden Gem!’

…As thousands of visitors gave Bolsover the taste test this weekend

The second year of Bolsover Food and Drink Festival has been hailed a ‘hidden gem’ as traders and visitors all enjoyed a weekend full of flavoursome fun.

Thousands of food lovers descended on Bolsover on Saturday and Sunday, and took home tips from accomplished chef and food writer Adam Palmer (BBC Masterchef) who staged live cooking demonstrations throughout the weekend.

“This festival is a hidden gem,” said Billy of gourmet sausage roll specialist Pig in the Middle. “We had a really busy day and I had to restock the stall twice,” he said “The people from round here are lovely, especially with the music and entertainment to keep everyone in good spirits. I really enjoyed it this weekend!”

Other traders echoed the festive spirit: “I love coming here. It’s a quaint town for people to visit. This is an up and coming food festival – a lovely place with a great atmosphere,” said Kim Dearing from Ooh La La Crepes.

“This is a really well-organised event with a great crowd,” said Amanda Perr from Glamarang. “The town really stands out with its brilliant brand, and has a great feel about it. I hope this can grow into a really big event and generate the regional recognition that it deserves.”

“We’re absolutely delighted with how the weekend has gone,” said Andrew Tristram, Bolsover Town Clerk.

“People have travelled from all over the region to attend, and everyone seems to have enjoyed themselves, thanks to the hard work of the event team, a fantastic variety of award-winning food and drink producers and the excellent workshops hosted by Adam.”
