Kelham Island Museum

Heritage communications

Sheffield Industrial Museums Trust (SIMT) has a portfolio of three heritage venues in Sheffield. They came to us to help raise the profile of the venues, and through PR and social media, we helped them tell their story for over 8 years.

Kelham Island Museum

Devastated by floods and with areas still closed to the public, we set about the task of reigniting interest in the museum and reaching new and wider audiences.

Working with the events and marketing team, we created a communications strategy to support the business objectives. We delivered an annual PR plan. The result was to bring the story of Kelham Island Museum to life.

Our work consistently achieved high levels of coverage in local and regional titles, including TV, radio and online channels. The result was seeing visitor numbers grow year-on-year throughout the time we worked with the museum.

“Ruby Slippers managed all of Kelham Island Museum’s PR activity. With an excellent knowledge of the sector and associated press, Nichola established media contacts to secure relevant exposure on local, regional and national papers, across radio and social media networks

“Our focus has always been to grow visitor numbers and throughout the time we have worked with them, visitor number consistently grew and media coverage always exceeded our expectations. Ruby Slippers came up with some great ideas. They achieved coverage for our events, engaged our audiences and have helped raise the profile of our venues. I highly recommend them.”
